Lady Bat Application: Accepted

Your name or what you want to go by: frozen is fine :)

Timezone: Pacific Standard Time

Character Name: Bat Lady/Bryanne Wayne

Character Information: After witnessing her parents’ murder, young Bryanne Wayne was traumatized.  When she was an adult, she decided that she would help rid Gotham of its many, many criminals by becoming the vigilante known as ‘Bat Lady.’  Bryanne also became CEO of Wayne Industries.  By day, Bryanne is a charitable, fun-loving billionaire who seems far too dumb and shallow to be the world’s greatest detective.  But by night, she is the strong and vengeful Lady Bat.  Later, as she continues her night-time career, she gains a protege, Dixie Grayson as Robin, and joins the Justice League.  Bryanne is a firm and sometimes distant parent, but she tries to make time for Dixie and express her affection more freely.  Bryanne can be emotionless and commanding at times, but she also is compassionate and cracks the occasional joke.  (It was actually Robin that helped soften her up and show her that it’s okay to be human.)  She is the mentor for Young Justice and secretly enjoys watching the team interact.

Writing Sample:

Bat Lady lurked silently in the background, watching the nine teenagers train.  Today she was evaluating the team’s skills.  If they had improved significantly since their last assessment, Bat Lady would allow them to go on more high-risk missions.  Bryanne allowed herself a brief moment of internal pride as she observed her little Robin taking down two of her teammates at once.  Her foster daughter had long since graduated from easy-going circus acrobat to young hero.  She’d miss the little eight year old who flew across the Gotham skyline, but those days were over.  Now Robin was an independent young woman with a close-knit team to back her up.

The team completed the training exercise, and turned to Bat Lady for the verdict, faces hopeful.

“Well…” Bat Lady began, bringing her mental list of notes to give the team. “First of all, you need to stop relying so heavily on telepathic communication.  That may not always be an option in the field.  Second, there isn’t enough teamwork and too much simultaneous solo work.  Work on maneuvers that combine your strengths.”

“Anything else?” Robin demanded excitedly.

“Young Justice has improved since your last evaluation.  I will allow you to go on more missions, provided that you continue your training,” Bat Lady affirmed.

“YES!” Kid Flash cheered.  The entire team celebrated and Robin came up and hugged her mentor tightly.

Bat Lady allowed the corners of her mouth to twitch upwards at the waves of happiness radiating off her protege.

Mister Martian Application: Accepted

Your name or what you want to go by:  Just call me Matt! Y’know. If I get the part.

Your timezone : GMT.

Character’s name : M’att M’orzz

Character’s Play-By : Rupert Grint.

Character’s information : M’att is a happy, friendly and deeply caring young Martian who recently came down to Earth, pretending to be nephew to their current resident Martian hero. Despite hardships on his own planet thanks to his true race and the discrimination they faced, he remains a sweet and somewhat shy young man intent on pleasing the people around him. All he really wants is to see everyone else happy, and as a result he often screws up. He just doesn’t know how things work on this planet, but he’s eager to learn. Everything he does know is from dated Earth television, but hey. At least it’s a start. Despite his desire to fit in with the team, or perhaps because of it, he hasn’t told anyone about the fact he’s really a white Martian, not a green one, and he doesn’t intend to. They don’t need to know. This is who he really is, and if he’s naive enough to believe he can get away with that, he’s naive enough to believe far too much else.

Sample of writing: The only thing M’att ever wanted was to go to Earth. Everything seemed so much simpler there, if television was anything to go by, and he couldn’t help but think that if he could just make it there, then maybe his life would go that extra little bit better. Of course, things were never that simple and now that he was here, he had no idea what to do with himself. Sure, he had the team and everything there was going better than he’d expected, but somehow he’d thought there would be… well. More. Why were things on Hello, Matt so much busier than his own life. It was this that lead to his ultimate decision. He was going to attend high school and he was going to drag Connie with him. They both needed to learn more about human culture, he figured, and if it gave him a better excuse to spend more time with the girl then it would be at least a partial success.

The trick was getting his aunt to agree to it, which was why he was currently pacing outside the cave, muttering to himself. Despite telepathy being the main form of communication on his home planet, spending so much time with his human team mates was rubbing off on him; if he had to guess, he must’ve picked this habit up from Willow. Who else talked that much? “It’ll help us to blend in with people, for longer covert missions!” he exclaimed to himself quietly, before shaking his head and pausing. No, that wouldn’t cut it with his aunt. Maybe something a little more sneaky? But that was Robin’s forte, not his own. He couldn’t be sneaky to save his life, especially not with his aunt. Everyone could tell when Matt was lying, it seemed, something he’d have to practice.

Groaning, Matt moved over to the shade of the trees and sank down onto the grass, dropping his head into his hands. Maybe if he just asked and said please, he’d get the answer he was hoping for? But that seemed almost too good an idea to be true… Sighing, Matt leaned his head back and looked up at the sky, glad to realise he was getting more used to the different atmosphere. “It’s always worth a go, I guess,” he muttered to the air.

Robin Application: Accepted

Your name or what you want to go by:  Alice, but feel free to refer to me by Dixie or Robin if I get the role?

Your timezone : GMT. I’m online a lot, however, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Character’s name : Dixie Grayson/Robin.

Character’s Play-By :  Lucy Hale.

Character’s information : Dixie Grayson, alias: Robin, the Girl Wonder. She’s excitable, loud around her friends, a bit egotistical at times and very confident in her abilities, or at least she appears so. To the outside world, Dixie Grayson is everything the heir to the Wayne fortune should be… But to her friends, the ones who know her best (and yet don’t even know her real name, for the most part), she’s just a girl. Sure, her abuse of the English language gets irritating at times and whenever she runs off, she knows she runs the risk of annoying everyone, but around them, as Robin, she feels like she can be herself. She can admit that her confidence is just a guise to hide darker, deep rooted insecurities but also be safe in the knowledge that amongst these people, she won’t be pitied. They trust her to stand up straight and bear it as she always has done, instead of being treated like a porcelain doll. To her best friend, KF, she has the ability to relax and share her problems, to reveal the things that are really on her mind, and with the others, she doesn’t have to pretend that she isn’t as strong as she could be. Dixie knows that these are the people she can call her family, and she’ll defend them to her last breath. She’ll keep their secrets, she’ll mess around with them and she’ll never betray them. Not for anything.

Sample of writing: Dixie took one look at the room as she stepped out of the zeta beam and knew something was wrong. The place was just too quiet. Under any other circumstance, she’d hear Apollo and Willow bickering from the lounge, Matt trying to broker some kind of peace between them, or the rest of the team practicing their drills in the training room, but today? Nothing. Perhaps Willow was right and there was some kind of Bat-sense, but Dixie disappeared in an instant and Robin stood in her place, hands going straight to her utility belt. All she wanted was a day off. A day of peace with her friends. She’d had enough of the bad guys back in Gotham, chasing down Mrs. Freeze as she escaped Arkham yet again, and all she’d wanted was a chance to catch up. Take in the sights of Happy Harbour, maybe. Get to know her newer friends a little better, spend some time with Zahari…

Pulling out a birdarang, Robin crept into the nearest shadows, eyes scanning the room for possible intruders. The fact that the alarm system hadn’t displayed anything worried her. Batwoman should have known something was up; unbeknownst to the rest of the team, she’d been keeping a much closer eye on them since their last disaster of a mission (heavy on the dis, Robin thought to herself with little humour) and yet nothing. Was this an inside job? Was there really a mole after all? After everything Rory had been saying, Robin didn’t want to believe it, and yet this was just too uncanny. She flitted from shadow to shadow, leaping her way up into the nooks and crannies at the top of the cave and across the room, out into the training area. Nothing. Silence. With the room cleared, she made her way cautiously into the air vents and towards the lounge, where… Oh. Right.

It wasn’t like she’d meant to intrude, but when you stumbled across two of your friends with their lips locked, there was only one thing she could possibly do. Embarrass the hell out of them, of course. With a wicked grin spread across her face, she snapped a picture (potential blackmail material was always a good thing to keep hold of, after all) before kicking the air vent out and landing gracefully on the floor of the lounge, just behind the sofa. “Hey,” she greeted, the hint of her signature cackle hidden in the depths of the word, and made her way over to fridge to pull out a soda and crack it open. “Don’t mind me, guys. I’m totally not here. You go back to what you were doing and I’ll be out of your hair before you can say busted.” A blast of her grappling hook and she was swinging back up into the air vent, cackling as she escaped before they could get to her, determined to keep this data somewhere safe.

Bryanne Wayne || Age: 32|| Alias: Lady Bat|| Occupation: CEO || Face Claim: Lara Pulver || Status: Open || Artwork via www.darkroomxxx.com

Lady Bat has a strict by the book personality. She rarely smiles and keeps a cool head in almost every situation. Despite this, she is not above showing kindness, as she raised Robin like her son. Her role and personality as a mentor to the Team shows her to be a very stern general and taskmaster, yet surprisingly understanding authority figure. She is quick to issue orders and expects them to be followed with no questions asked, but she does listen and at times even accept the opinions of younger heroes. Her natural commanding presence and intimidating personality commands respect from the Team, but she rarely if ever abuses or lords her authority unfairly over them. In fact, even when the Team makes mistakes on their missions, she makes certain to still praise them on what they did right, as well as educate them on what they didn’t.

Jay Nguyen || Age: 19 || Alias: Cheshire || Occupation: Student/Assassin || Face Claim: Shu Watanabe || Status: Taken || Artwork via http://project-mr.tumblr.com

Jay’s a complex character. He’s had a tough childhood; his parents never really cared for him, so he learned to fend for himself, and to never take anyone’s emotions or pity. The only person he had ever shown one iota of emotion was Apollo. He felt sorry for his younger brother, seeing him going through the same cruelty he had. But no way was he going to show any kindness, so he treated his brother with indifference, sometimes even coolly.
